Spend a Million ... Classroom Upgrades and Strategic Initiatives: Planning, Funding, and Implementation

Planning for a classroom refresh?  New stuff?  Cool things?

Planning for classroom AV updates along with improving and expanding other services should always be done with an eye toward innovation, economy, and meeting real-world needs.

How does one approach a regular (or overdue) classroom refresh and use that process to further insititutional goals?  What specific goals must be met for the faculty?  For the students? Whom to involve in the planning process?  What does the planning process look like and how long should it take?  How important is input from administrators, faculty, students and yes, staff?  Does the marketing team or events team have a role in facility improvements? What other initiatives can logically be associated with classroom refresh?  Will other areas of the classroom be impacted (carpet, lighting, wall coverings)? Is it possible to future-proof this project? How to establish a scratch budget.  How much contingency does one need? Where to find funding?  What about project management before, during and after?

We will address these and other issues and provide attendees at all levels a broad view of best practices, important issues to consider and pitfalls to avoid. Prepare your team and your institution for your next classroom update or remodel.
